Winter is fast approaching and that means a cough, cold or bout of the sneezes is coming to a town near you.
To help you stay well and to help our NHS colleagues manage the increasing pressures they face at this time of year, here are a few hints and tips to help you ‘Stay well this winter’.
Is your medicine cabinet armed with the tools it needs to fend off ailments such as sore throats, sniffles, cuts, grazes, headaches and hangovers?
If the answer is no, get yourself prepared for winter by visiting your local pharmacy today.
If your illness is more serious and you’re not sure where to turn to for help, call NHS 111.
NHS 111 is a free phone service that’s available 24 hours a day, seven days a week. Trained call handlers can provide you with medical help and advice, or if deemed more urgent, they can arrange for you to see a Doctor or potentially call you an ambulance.

Drinkline 0300 123 1110. Free, confidential helpline for people who are concerned about their drinking, or someone else’s.
Signpost for Carers 0161 442 0442. Provides support to unpaid Carers in Stockport.
The Sanctuary If you are struggling to cope and experiencing anxiety, panic attacks depression or suicidal thoughts or are in crisis you can call The Sanctuary for support on 0300 003 7029 to check every night of the year, including Bank Holidays between 6pm – 1am.
The Prevention Alliance 0161 474 1042. Works with people who live in Stockport who want to make changes but perhaps don’t know where to start, for example, improving independence, health and wellbeing.
